Theni: Customers who came to buy petrol and diesel were turned away due to lack of stock in most of the petrol stocks in Theni district.

There are 83 petrol stations operating in the district. Apart from Indian Oil Corporation, the remaining 43 stocks were depleted due to non-availability of petrol and diesel for sale. Thus more customers were sent back as there was no petrol, no diesel.
According to the district administrator of the Tamil Nadu Petrol Punk Owners’ Association, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum have reduced their purchases. On average, petrol sells for only 35 percent of diesel. Thus motorists are affected. The government should intervene and provide fuel immediately to meet the procurement requirement, he said.
