Dallas Greyhound Terminal Relocates to New Northwest Facility on December 9
A key transportation hub in downtown Dallas will cease bus operations next week as Flix North America prepares to open a new, more modern terminal in Northwest Dallas. The move, announced Monday, marks a significant shift for intercity bus travel in the region and the planned redevelopment of a prominent downtown property.
The existing terminal at 205 Lamar St. will phase out service on Monday, December 8, with the new facility at 9755 Harry Hines Blvd. commencing operations the following day. According to a company release, the new terminal is designed to provide a “smoother and more convenient experience” for passengers.
The transition follows more than a year after Flix North America, the parent company of Greyhound, initially announced its intention to relocate. The Lamar Street property was acquired last year by real estate investor Ray Washburne, who intends to redevelop the site. Washburne shared with The Dallas Morning News his plans for the downtown location following the bus terminal’s departure.
The new Harry Hines Blvd. terminal offers improved connectivity, situated directly across from Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s (DART) Bachman Station. This provides passengers with seamless access to the Green and Orange light rail lines, as well as numerous local bus routes.
“Our goal is to ensure that every passenger, whether commuting, traveling for business, or exploring new places, can enjoy a stress-free journey across North Texas and beyond,” stated Kai Boysan, CEO of Flix North America. He added that increasing numbers of travelers are recognizing the value of intercity buses for long-distance travel, and the new terminal is designed to support this growing trend.
Dallas City Council member Laura Cadena, representing District 6, hailed the new center as a positive development for the city and surrounding areas. “Intercity buses play a vital role in keeping communities connected,” Cadena said in the release. “I’m grateful for the collaboration that made this project possible and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our community.”
Passengers with existing tickets for arrival or departure from the Lamar Street terminal will automatically receive updates via text or email, including the new address, a map link, and nearby landmarks. All tickets will remain valid for the new location, and staff will be present at both terminals to assist travelers during the transition period.
