Hyerim Community Welfare Center (Director Byung-yong Lee) located in Damyang-gun was selected as the ‘best institution’ in the country in last year’s evaluation of institutions supporting activities for the disabled.
The evaluation of disability activity support organizations is conducted every two years by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the National Pension Service with the purpose of improving the quality of services provided to the disabled and contributing to the independent living of the disabled.
This evaluation was conducted on 427 organizations nationwide, including welfare centers for the disabled, social welfare centers, and regional self-reliance centers, and included organization operations (business and human resource management), service provision (planning, quality control, results), user satisfaction surveys, and local self-reliance centers. A total of 26 indicators in 4 areas, including social cooperation, were evaluated and the top 35 institutions nationwide were selected as the best institutions.
Among these, Hyerim Community Welfare Center received the highest score in the overall evaluation area and was the only institution in Jeollanam-do to be selected as the best institution.
Director Lee Byeong-yong said, “I think this is the result of our efforts to improve the quality of life of disabled people living in Damyang and enable them to live proudly in the community.” He added, “We will continue to create the best service environment where disabled people and activity support staff can cooperate and be satisfied.” He expressed his feelings about receiving the award.
Meanwhile, Damyang-gun (Governor Lee Byung-no) announced on the 7th that it has prepared emergency protection measures for low-income vulnerable groups who are experiencing economic difficulties due to the winter cold wave and rising energy prices.
This measure provides support for heating costs and daily necessities for low-income and vulnerable groups, and is planned to ensure that all support is completed before Chuseok.
In addition to the existing support for grain expenses, the county plans to temporarily provide a total of 300,000 won, 100,000 won per month, to 379 senior citizen centers in the county to help seniors have a healthy winter and reduce the burden of food material costs.
In addition, to help them stay warm during the cold winter, 220 million won will be invested to target low-income vulnerable seniors (beneficiaries, next-income earners) over the age of 65 and provide heating expenses of 100,000 won per person to about 2,200 people.
In addition, we plan to deliver agricultural, fishery and livestock product packages worth 100,000 won to 148 low-income single-parent families with incomes below 63% of the median income. This support is expected to help improve the stability and welfare of single-parent families.
County Governor Lee Byung-no said, “We expect that this support measure will greatly contribute to the winter health of vulnerable households,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to improve the welfare of vulnerable households.”
