Deepawali 2024: Diwali is on 31st of this month. The markets of Delhi are ready for this. A huge crowd of customers is also being seen. Bhagirath Palace, Delhi’s biggest light market located at Chandni Chowk is also illuminated with colorful lights. A lot of lights are being sold in the market these days. However, this time we are seeing more sales of fancy lights than normal lights.

what is being sold this time

Shopkeepers say that there has been nothing new or much change in the lights in the market in the last few years, hence the sale of fancy lights with different designs has increased a lot. Water lamps have also been available in the market for the last 4-5 years, but this time their sales are also becoming tremendous.

Nice craze of fancy lights

Arun Jain, who runs a shop in Bhagirath Palace, said that this time fan lights are being sold in abundance in the market. The reason for this is that there has not been much change in the trends in the market. The same design and quality has been coming for the last few years. Now, why would someone whose old threads are fine take the same threads again? In such a situation, people are buying more fancy colorful lights instead of more strings. This includes small hanging lights and LED candle lights and lamps. This time, optical wire lights are also selling well. These have been used in lights of different designs. Like they have been installed on butterflies, these colorful lights look very beautiful in the dark.

Demand for fancy tree lights also

Arun told that people decorate their houses on Diwali, hence there is good demand for items related to it. For example, trees decorated with fancy lights are also being sold well. People can erect them outside the house, can also be installed on terraces and balconies and apart from this, they can also be installed in the drawing room. These trees are available in sizes ranging from 2 feet to 6 feet and their price ranges from Rs 500 to Rs 2,000. Apart from this, lights placed on tables of different sizes are also being sold well.

Great sale of water lamps

Pawan Aggarwal, a vendor from Sadar Bazaar, said that although water lamps have been in the market for the last 4-5 years, this time they are getting huge sales. These lamps burn by adding water instead of oil. Cells are used in these and there is a light which lights up as soon as water is poured. Usually these lamps burn for 12-18 hours, after which their cells have to be changed. Some lamps remain lit even for two days. The reason for their higher sales this time is that they are now being made in India only. Due to this their prices have also reduced. The wholesale rate of these lamps is Rs 5-8 depending on the size and design. This is the reason why they are being sold a lot this time.

300 crore business in the market till Diwali

Ajay Sharma, President of Delhi Electrical Traders Association, says that this time there is good work in the market. Before Diwali, Bhagirath Palace Market is illuminated with colorful lights and a huge crowd of customers is coming. This is the biggest light market of Delhi and is expected to have a turnover of Rs 300 crore by Diwali. There has not been much difference in the rates of lights as compared to last year. Now 60-70 percent of the goods are coming from China, while 30 percent is also being assembled in India. It is expected that this percentage will increase further in the coming time. The good thing is that this time people are coming out of their homes and good work is being done in the market.
