Presidium member Sahidur Rahman Tepa has sent a legal notice to Japa faction chairman GM Quader for defamation of Tk 50 crore claiming that GM Quader, who has already been expelled from the post of chairman of the National Party, does not have the authority to exempt anyone from the party.
On Thursday, Tepa’s lawyer Gazi Rabiul Islam Sagar sent this notice.
Sahidur Rahman Tepa said that the notice has been delivered to GM Quader’s Bananistha Chairman’s office and Jatiya Party’s Kakrail office yesterday afternoon.
He said, GM Quader and Mujibul Haque have been expelled from the Chunnu party. Begum Roshan Ershad, the wife of the former president and party founder chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad, was elected as the chairman of the National Party by the unanimous consent of the councilors in the new council. I am the co-chairman of the team. Even after knowing that, GM can’t remove me from Kader’s team. Because he is not the chairman of the party. He has publicly defamed me by issuing press notices calling me unfit. I will take legal action against him if he does not apologize and withdraw the notification soon.
Earlier in a circular signed by Japa (Kader) party’s joint office secretary Mahmud Alam, Jatiya Party Chairman Gholam Mohammad Quader said that Jatiya Party Presidium member Sahidur Rahman Tepa, Chairman’s Advisor MA Quddus Khan, Jatiya Party Chairman Golam Mohammad Kader’s powers given in the party constitution. Saad Ershad, Organizing Secretary Mahmuda Rahman Munni, Provincial Affairs Secretary Khorshed Alam Khushu, Religious Affairs Secretary SM Al Zubair, Joint Organizing Secretary Sujan Dey, Sharfuddin Ahmed Shipu, Sharmin Parveen Liza, Joint Publicity Secretary Sheikh Masuk Rahman and Joint Women Affairs Secretary Shahnaz Parveen has been exempted from all party posts.
It is to be noted that these leaders avoided the leadership of GM Quader and joined the separate National Party under the leadership of Begum Roshan Ershad, the main sponsor of the National Party and former opposition leader, before the party was given the title. Saad Ershad, Sahidur Rahman Tepa were elected as co-chairmen in the council. The rest of the leaders are holding various positions.
