Mr. Sanchez’s visit is an opportunity to assess what has been accomplished since the High-Level Meeting held in Rabat in February last year, which culminated in the signing of 19 agreements and memorandums of understanding covering various areas, he indicated in a statement to MAP.
The university professor highlighted the remarkable development observed in economic exchanges between the two countries, noting that Spain has been Morocco’s leading trading partner since 2012.
This visit, he said, also makes it possible to address a certain number of issues of common interest, chief among them security cooperation, particularly in the fight against terrorism, organized crime or illegal immigration, stressing that the Mediterranean basin is one of the regions where the rate of illegal migration has decreased over the last two years, thanks to the close cooperation between Morocco and Spain in this area.
The visit to Morocco by the President of the Spanish government, it will be recalled, is a continuation of the meeting with HM King Mohammed VI in April 2022, which brought an unprecedented dynamic to bilateral relations, consolidated by the Meeting of High Level and an intense exchange of visits by senior officials from both sides.

This visit is part of the continuity of the new phase of bilateral relations, begun since the meeting between His Majesty the King, may God glorify Him, and the President of the Spanish Government, in April 2022, and the adoption, on this occasion , of the Joint Declaration between the two countries.
