David Belliard, deputy mayor of Paris, reacted to accusations of racism from President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi regarding the sale of the Parc des Princes to the club.

The rag is burning between the Paris town hall and Paris SG over the sale of the Parc des Princes to the French champion club and the fire is clearly not about to go out. In an interview with RMC Sport on Tuesday evening, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi suspected the municipality of blocking a possible sale process because of the nationality of the shareholder. “ For what? Because we are Qatar, because we are Arabs? No, that’s not good», denounced the Parisian leader, referring to the intervention of David Belliard a few days earlier on Sud-Radio.

Comments which made the deputy (EELV) jump to the mayor of Paris, aligning with the position of the mayor, Anne Hidalgo (PS), opposed to the principle of a sale. At the microphone of South RadioBelliard had effectively expressed an unambiguous position on the matter by stating: “As a Parisian elected official, I will oppose any sale of the Park, whether to Qatar or to other private interests.»

Speaking this time to Le Parisienthe elected environmentalist did not hide his annoyance while providing a response to the boss of PSG: “Calling me racist is defamation, and is not at the level of the issues of this important debate“. Before adding: “I accept the fact that I will oppose the sale of this Parisian heritage to private interests, whatever their nationality. I believe that this must remain a common good and therefore a municipal good.»

PSG wants to stay at the Parc des Princes but

Paris SG, which withdrew from the race to buy the Stade de France, wishes to continue at the Parc des Princes but plans to modernize the stadium in order to increase the number of seats. A project which would only be compatible after the purchase of the enclosure by the Qatari shareholder but the municipality is currently refusing any discussion in this direction.
