CHENNAI: Due to the lateness of the staff to survey the electricity usage in the houses, the less electricity users are forced to pay more.
Electricity Regulatory Commission has hiked electricity tariff from 10th Sep, 2022. Therefore, the Electricity Board directed the employees to take a survey of the electricity consumption on the said date.
But as usual, due to the lateness of the employees, even in the houses that use less electricity, 100 units are free and subsidy concession up to 500 units is not available.
In this regard, despite complaining to the Divisional Office Assistant Engineers, no action is taken.
Without visiting in person, comparing the previous electricity consumption and measuring according to preference, mistakes are also made such as under-metering in houses that use a lot of electricity.
Therefore, the Electricity Board should order the officials of the Electricity Board head office to visit two division offices each day and conduct an inspection regarding the electricity usage survey.
Only then, fearing the arrival of the authorities, all the employees will measure the power consumption on the correct date. Thus, the consumers will not be affected and the power board will not suffer any loss.
Salary Rs.250 per day
Some employees do not go to the survey but send some of their required people to survey. There are also complaints that they are being paid Rs 250 per day for this. If this is subjected to serious investigation, many irregularities will come to light.
