General Secretary of Revolutionary Workers Party Saiful Haque said that millions of families in the country are crying even during the month of fasting. 70 percent of the country’s food intake has decreased, millions of people are suffering from malnutrition. The poor working families should pay a minimum of 5 thousand rupees within 25 days to prevent the disaster in the market of low prices.
He said these things while addressing the chief guest at the central representative meeting of Revolutionary Rickshaw Workers Solidarity at the Solidarity Auditorium at Segunbagicha in the capital on Friday (March 22) afternoon.
The meeting was chaired by Kavi Jamal Sikdar, convenor of the Rickshaw Workers’ Solidarity, and Mir Mofazzal Hossain Moshtaq, Akbar Khan, Abul Kalam, Mohammad Ahsan Belal, Sohail Rana, Rezaul Islam, Iti Akhtar, Ripon Mia, Farhaduzzaman, Al Amin, Anisul Islam, spoke at the meeting. Rezaul Karim Reza, Shimul Hossain, Mohammad Hruday, Mohammad Raju etc.
The general secretary of Biplabli Workers Party said that in order to save the poor working families, apart from paying 5 thousand cash before Eid, they should pay at least 2 thousand rupees as dear allowance every month.
Saiful Haque complained that there is anarchy in the market due to the evil entanglement of the government and large syndicates and said that businessmen are like another government. Businessmen don’t care about any system of government. In exchange for support to the government, their syndicates hold the people hostage and do whatever they want.
Saiful Haque called for environment friendly rickshaw modernization by stopping police harassment on rickshaw workers. At the same time, he demanded to ensure proper accommodation, education and health care for the rickshaw pullers and to arrange necessary rickshaw garage.
