Investigators said in a statement that they asked a court in Seoul to issue this memorandum after the ousted president refused on Sunday, for the third time, to appear before them for questioning.
On December 14, Parliament voted in favor of Yoon’s removal, so his hand was immediately suspended pending the Constitutional Court’s approval of the decision to remove him from office. Meanwhile, the deposed president is banned from leaving the country.
Yoon is under investigation on suspicion of “rebellion”, a crime punishable by death, for his failed attempt to impose martial law in the country and for sending the army to Parliament to prevent him from acting do against him.
On the night of December 3 to 4, Yoon (63 years old) suddenly announced the imposition of martial law, but only six hours later he was forced to withdraw this step under pressure from Parliament and from the street.
According to local media, Yoon also refuses to acknowledge receipt of the summons sent to him by the Constitutional Court, which held the first hearing in his case on Friday.
The court has a period of six months to confirm or cancel the decision to dismiss the president If the dismissal is approved, presidential elections will be held soon within a period of sixty days.
