/ White House spokesman John Kirby said on Friday that US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was fully involved and followed all developments and decisions taken regarding the air strikes against the Houthis.

Kirby revealed that America is evaluating the impact of the American-British air strikes on the Houthi group in Yemen, which targeted the militia’s ability to store, launch, and direct missiles and drones.

The White House spokesman said in a television interview, “We are still assessing the actual impacts on all of these targets. This work is ongoing. So I think we will have a better idea of the damage that occurred here in the coming hours.”

He also announced that the administration is studying the possibility of re-listing the Houthis on the list of foreign terrorist organizations. US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, had taken the decision to exclude the Houthis from the aforementioned list in February 2021.

Kirby told CNN: “We are reviewing it now, and we have not yet decided whether or not we will cancel it and change it again, but I can say that we are seriously considering it.”

He also stressed that Washington “does not seek a conflict with Iran” despite the US strikes on the Houthis in Yemen. He said on MSNBC, “We are not seeking a conflict with Iran. We are not seeking an escalation, and there is no reason for an escalation to occur beyond what happened in recent days.”

For his part, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder announced that the United States believes it has achieved a good result by launching strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen.
