Despite the warnings, the Israelis flock to Egypt

by times news cr

The Israeli newspaper “Maariv” revealed that there are hundreds of Israelis flocking to the city of Sharm El-Sheikh on the Sinai Peninsula, despite travel warnings issued by the Israeli authorities against traveling there.

The newspaper said, “The Israelis mock the travel warnings and call them in colloquial Hebrew ‘beep’. They ignored these warnings and went to Egypt to spend a diving vacation in Sharm El-Sheikh.”

The Hebrew newspaper added, “Although there are no direct flights from Israel to Egypt, Israeli tourists find a way to get there even without this option.”

This comes despite the fact that Egypt was defined on the website of the Israeli National Security Service as a “highly threatening (Level 4)” country, and the warning letter even stated: “You should not come to this country and if you reside there you must… Leave immediately, in light of the fear that armed elements will try to harm Israelis residing in Egypt against the backdrop of the Gaza war.”

The Israeli newspaper claimed that, according to the recommendations of the presidency of the National Security Agency, “Sinai Island is still a threatened target by armed elements – especially in light of its definition as such and that it remains a tourist destination for Israelis who come to spend their vacation on the beaches of Sinai.”

Maariv pointed out that the Israeli army wants to raise public awareness about not traveling to dangerous areas abroad and following the recommendations published on the website of the National Security Agency MLA.

The Israeli agency had emphasized the great importance of avoiding reaching the following countries, in light of the real danger to the lives of Israelis residing in these countries:

  1. Iraq – including the Kurdish region (access prohibited by law)
  2. Yemen (access prohibited by law)
  3. Iran (access prohibited by law)
  4. Syria (access prohibited by law)
  5. Lebanon (access prohibited by law)
  6. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (access restricted by law)
  7. Bangladesh
  8. Somalia
  9. Pakistan
  10. Afghanistan
  11. Libya
  12. Algeria
  13. Jordan
  14. Egypt – including the Sinai Peninsula
