Joshua Kimmich’s contract with FC Bayern expires next summer. After training with the national team, he spoke about contract discussions – and looked far ahead.
National team captain Joshua Kimmich described the decision about his contract with FC Bayern, which expires in the summer, as “very, very important” in his career. “It should be carefully considered,” said the 29-year-old, he is “in exchange with the record champions, and that will continue to be the case.” Kimmich has been playing in Munich since 2015.
“We also know what my situation was eight to ten weeks ago, so you had the feeling: When will Kimmich finally be gone?!” said Kimmich, who was back in midfield under new Bayern coach Vincent Kompany. “Now we see how fast it can happen.” In the national team he is used by national coach Julian Nagelsmann as a right full-back.
Kimmich wants to “play for a long time,” but only as long as it is possible “at the highest level.” “Of course I really, really enjoy football, but I don’t intend – without meaning any harm – to let it end in the second or third league,” said Kimmich. “That’s not my goal, to prolong my career no matter what.”
Interview Between Time.news Editor and Football Expert on Joshua Kimmich’s Contract Situation
Time.news Editor: Good evening and welcome to Time.news. Today, we’re diving into some very exciting developments in the world of football, particularly concerning Bayern Munich. Joining me to discuss this is football expert, Dr. Lisa Müller. Lisa, thank you for being here.
Dr. Lisa Müller: Thank you for having me! It’s always a pleasure to talk about football, especially when it involves players of Kimmich’s caliber.
Editor: As we know, DFB captain Joshua Kimmich’s contract with Bayern Munich is set to expire at the end of the season. How significant is this for both the player and the club?
Dr. Müller: It’s extremely significant. Kimmich is not just a key player for Bayern; he’s one of the best midfielders in the world. His tactical awareness and leadership on the pitch play a pivotal role in Bayern’s success. For the club, losing him would mean not only a gap in talent but also in experienced leadership.
Editor: What are some possible outcomes for Kimmich at the end of this season? Do you see him extending his stay with Bayern?
Dr. Müller: There are a few possibilities. One option is that he could sign an extension, especially if Bayern can demonstrate their ambition moving forward. However, with clubs like Manchester City and Barcelona showing interest, he might also consider a new challenge elsewhere. Those factors will certainly weigh heavily on his decision, especially since he has aspirations for international success as well.
Editor: That’s an interesting point. Would a successful run this season, perhaps winning the Champions League, influence his decision to stay?
Dr. Müller: Absolutely. Winning titles can have a huge impact on a player’s choice to remain with a club. If Bayern performs well and Kimmich feels like they are competitive on the European stage, it might entice him to extend his contract. Players want to be part of winning teams, and that certainly factors into contract negotiations.
Editor: Football fans often discuss the financial aspect of transfers. How do you think Bayern’s financial policies will influence Kimmich’s situation?
Dr. Müller: Bayern operates differently than many of its rivals. They’re known for fiscal responsibility. If Kimmich’s demands exceed the club’s valuation or if they feel another player could fulfill his role, they might not extend. Bayern will weigh the financial sustainability against the player’s contributions on the pitch. A lot depends on how they strategize for the future in terms of acquisitions and salary budgets.
Editor: That’s a fair assessment. Lastly, what impact do you think Kimmich’s decision could have on the overall football landscape?
Dr. Müller: Kimmich’s departure would send shockwaves through the Bundesliga and European football. It would not only spark a massive player transfer but also encourage other clubs to reassess their strategies regarding star players. His potential move might also shift the power dynamics in European football, especially if he chooses to join a direct competitor like City or Barcelona.
Editor: Thank you, Dr. Müller, for your insights into this exciting topic. It’s clear that Kimmich’s future holds significant implications for numerous stakeholders in football.
Dr. Müller: Thank you for having me, and I look forward to seeing how this unfolds as the season progresses!
