Dickwella, Chandimal help SL draw opening Test- Dinamani

It was the first Test draw between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

The Sri Lankan team is touring Bangladesh and playing in a two-Test series. The first test was held on a satogram.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 397 runs in 153 overs. Mathews was dismissed for 199. Naeem Hasan took 6 wickets. Bangladesh played well in the first innings and scored 465 runs in 170.1 overs. Tamim Iqbal scored 133 and Mushfiqur Rahim 105. Rajita took 4 wickets.

Sri Lanka, trailing by 68 runs in the first innings, played cautiously on the final day and scored 260 for 6 in 90.1 overs. Thus the game ended in a draw. Sri Lanka stumbled first, losing 6 wickets for 161 runs. After this Dinesh Chandimal and Niroshan played responsibly and avoided defeat. Chandimal was unbeaten on 39 and Niroshan on 61. Taizul Islam took 4 wickets.

Matthews was chosen as the man of the match. The 2nd Test starts on May 23 in Mirpur.
