Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Ivan Lubennikov died at the age of 71.
According to the press service of the Russian Academy of Arts, the artist passed away on Sunday, October 3. The cause of death was not specified.
“A great sadness, a huge loss – the great artist, monumentalist has died,” the Academy added, expressing condolences to family and friends.
Ivan Lubennikov became the author of the exterior and interiors of the Moscow State Museum of Mayakovsky, the design of the facades of the Moscow theater on Taganka. He also participated in the creation of the Soviet section of the international museum Auschwitz, in the design of metro stations in the capital and the Paris metro.
