The Citroën Rally Team continues to be the most avant-garde team in the S-CER (Spanish Rally Super Championship); not only for the renewal of drivers that it experiences every year, thanks to its policy of promoting new talents, but also for leading pioneering initiatives such as the one implemented this weekend, in the first round of the season, the Sierra Rally Morena, where Diego Ruiloba, the new representative of the double chevron teamhas become the first SuperCER driver to take recognition in a race behind the wheel of a 100% electric vehicle.
The Citroën Ë-C4 X unit ceded to the Citroën Rally Team for the Andalusian event by Cosersa, a Citroën dealer in Córdoba, has allowed the Asturian driver and his new navigator, Ángel Vela, to take notes of the 14 sections that have made up the route of the 40th edition of the Sierra Morena Rally (with a total roadmap of 595.80 kilometers, divided into two stages: Saturday and Sunday).
The dynamic qualities of the Citroën Ë-C4 X, powered by an engine that offers 100 kW of power (the equivalent of 136 hp), and the autonomy that it offers in turn for long journeys (up to 360 km in the WLTP cycle), have facilitated the work prior to the competition by the new members of the Citroën Rally Team, who have completed the training sessions with zero emissions. The debut of the driver from Pravia at the wheel of the Citroën C3 Rally2 has been as effective as the energy consumption of the Citroën Ë-C4 X. Diego Ruiloba has adapted perfectly to the Citroën Racing customer-racing vehicle managed by Sports&You, demonstrating from the beginning the talent and qualities that have led him to promote this season to the top category of the S-CER (Superchampionship of Spain of Rallies), as a prize for having won the Stellantis Motorsport Iberian single-brand.
Unfortunately, a setback in the absence of the last two special stages has prevented fifth place in the general classification and second place in the Junior Trophy from Diego Ruiloba and Angel Vela; although, in any case, the quick adaptation they have undergone to the Citroën C3 Rally2, and the performance they have shown this weekend, have been more than positive to start the fifth journey of the Citroën Rally Team among the reference squads of the S- CER (Spanish Rally Super Championship).
