At the age of 57, Dimitris Imellos breathed his last after a battle with cancer. In recent years he was loved by the TV audience through the role of the policeman Fragiadakis in the TV series “Sasmus” but also i “Saint Passion – From Heaven to Heaven”. The last theater production in which he starred was the “Crime and Punishment” at the Porea theatre, directed by Dimitris Tarlow.

Dimitris Imellos was born on June 12, 1967. He came from Naxos and from his two parents, from the villages of Filoti and Apeiranthos. There were four children in the family, and he also had a son. During his studies at the Athens Law School, he joined the Vassilis Diamantopoulos Theater Workshop and then the Diomedes Fotiadis Drama School, from which he graduated. He also studied at the Moscow Academy of Theater Arts (GITIS) in the directing department of Leonid Heifich.

From 2001 to 2007 he was a member of the Experimental Stage of the National Theatre under his direction Stathis Livathinoswith whom the actor worked closely. He also taught at the Directing and Acting Workshop, as well as Iasmos and Delos drama schools.
In the year 2001 that was the first young actor to be awarded the “Dimitris Horn” award for his performance in “Frenapati” by T. Kushner directed by Stathis Livathinos, and in 2005 he was honored by the readers of the magazine “Athinorama” with the male performance award for his performance in Bulgakov’s “Moliere”.
