Sofia Vergara, who plays Griselda Blanco in the Netflix series of the same name, is a Colombian-born American actress, model and businesswoman who became known mainly for her role as Gloria Prittchett in Modern Family (2009-2020), available on Star+. Already playing the Colombian drug dealer in the police miniseries, which premiered this week, the actress has already been attracting the public’s attention and standing out in the production.

1. Modern Family (2009 – 2020)
Available on Star+, Modern Family (2009-2020) presents everyday family and romantic relationships in a fun way. There are three families living in Los Angeles as protagonists, all of them are connected by Jay Pritchett, a conservative businessman who lives with his wife Gloria Pritchett and her son, Manny Delgado. Gloria’s role is Sofia’s most famous on screen, a young, Latina woman who makes the audience laugh out loud.
Christopher Lloyd, Steven Levitan, Vali Chandrasekaran are the authors. The cast includes Ed O’Neill (The Last Shift), Sofia Vergara (Griselda), Julie Bowen (Lost), Ty Burrell (Finding Dory), among others. On popular websites, the series is rated 8.5 on IMDb and 85% on critics’ ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. 2. The Chemistry of Love (2017)
Scientist Julia Brizendine selects couples at different relationship levels for research. She wants to understand the difference between female and male brains and find the scientific explanation of love. In the midst of this, the research ends up revealing things that concern Julia’s own life and her romantic stories. The Chemistry of Love (2017) is a romantic comedy that can be watched on Apple TV+ and Amazon Prime Video.
In the plot, Vergara plays the role of Lisa, one of the women selected for the experiment. Other actors and actresses who participate in the film are Whitney Cummings (Two Girls in Trouble), in the role of the protagonist and director, Deon Cole (Average Joe), as Sofia’s romantic partner; as well as Lucy Punch (A Enchanted Girl), Toby Kebbell (Ben-Hur) and James Marsden (Enchanted). Carl Casper is the head cook of a restaurant in Los Angeles, but he always gets into trouble because, instead of making customers’ main orders, he wants to create culinary inventions. Due to the clashes, Carl ends up fired and burns his image with other job opportunities. To start over, he calls his ex-wife Inez, played by Vergara, and the two open a food trailer to finally be able to get creative with their dishes.
The Boss (2014) can be watched on Amazon Prime Video. It has Jon Favreau as the protagonist, in addition to Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) and John Leguizamo (Ice Age) also in the cast. Directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man), the work scores above average scores on IMDb (7.3) and Rotten Tomatoes, with an 87% approval rating on the tomatometer.

4. Beautiful and Persecuted (2015)
In this feature film that mixes action and comedy, Sofia Vergara stars alongside Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde) in the lead role. They are Daniella Riva, a widow, and Rose Cooper, a police officer, respectively. Cooper is tasked with protecting and escorting Vergara’s character to Texas so she can testify safely against a drug dealer. However, the criminal’s troops pursue them so that they do not reach their destination.
In addition to the production’s stars, the cast also has names like John Carroll Lynch (Lucky), Robert Kazinsky (For Love or Money) and Richard T. Jones (Screamed Groom) in the plot. On popular websites, Anne Fletcher’s film has modest approval ratings among audiences and critics: on IMDb, it has a rating of 5.1 and on Rotten Tomatoes, just 8% on the tomatometer. The four adopted brothers Bobby, Jeremiah, Angel and Jack are reunited at their mother’s funeral. In the midst of their grief, they discover that the woman who raised them may have been murdered, and so they come together to investigate the case and avenge the matricarda’s death. Quatro Irmãos (2005) can be seen for rent on Amazon Prime Video or Apple TV.
The film is directed by John Singleton (The Street Owners) and written by David Elliot (Catacombas) and Paul Lovett. The cast includes Garrett Hedlund (Where the Love Is), Mark Wahlberg (Uncharted: Off the Map), André 3000 (Jimi: All in My Favor) and Tyrese Gibson (The Fast and the Furious) as protagonists. On the repercussion sites, the series It is rated 6.8 on IMDb and has a 53% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

6. Entourage (2004 – 2011)
In Entourage, Vicente (2004-2011) is a young actor who is invited by a childhood friend to be the protagonist in a new production. As a requirement, the actor also wants to be one of the executive producers, but things don’t go as planned: the film already has a very expensive budget and is nowhere near being ready. The series can be found on HBO Max. In the work, Vergara makes a special appearance in the first episode of season 4.
The series created by Doug Ellin (Threesome) stars Kevin Connolly (The Notebook), Adrian Grenier (The Devil Wears Prada), Kevin Dillon (Bubble Blob), Jerry Ferrara (Think Like Them) and Jeremy Piven ( Written in the stars). An Almost Perfect Hit (2018) tells the story of the couple Harriet and Peter, two artists who have a huge gaming debt, but are unable to pay it off. That’s why a city mobster is after them. The couple then goes to Los Angeles with the aim of robbing a jewelry store and paying off the debt. To complete the mission, they ask Peter’s husband and ex-wife for help.
The film is available on Telecine and Amazon Prime Video. Directed by James Oakley (The Devil You Know), the cast includes Uma Thurman (Kill Bill), Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs), Alice Eve (She’s Too Much for Me) and Maggie Q (Nikita). Despite the strong cast, the film has very negative reviews on popular sites, with 3.8 on IMDb and 37% on Rotten Tomatoes.

8. Family Guy (1999 – current)
The animation Family Guy (1999 – current) was known for making parodies of series, bands and names referring to American pop culture with acidic humor. Available on Star+, the project follows the adventures of the Griffins, an unusual family. In the plot, Sofia participated as a special guest on the series twice, once as a flower seller, and once as the wife of the protagonist in a Spanish soap opera, in season 11.
The production has a positive performance on aggregator sites. On IMDb, it has an 8.2 rating, while on Rotten Tomatoes, the series has a 64% audience approval rating. Among the Brazilian voice actors are Luiz Carlos de Moraes (Little Miss Sunshine) and Adriana Pissardini (The Office). While Seth MacFarlane (Ted), Alex Borstein (Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) and Mila Kunis (Back to the 70s) accompany Sofia in the original cast.
