Our national canoe team achieved nineteen medals in the Arab Championship held in Tunisia, which witnesses competition between five countries: Iraq, Kuwait, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Algeria.
A statement by the Olympic Committee received by the (INA) stated, “The championship is dedicated to the advanced and young categories of men and women, and our national team achieved, on the first day of competition, a distinguished tally of medals for the 1000 meters and 200 meters, where it won 7 gold medals, 5 One silver and seven bronze, with a total of nineteen various medals.”
He added, “In the 1,000-meter distance, the players Suleiman Ahmed Saeed and Tariq Samir excelled by winning two gold medals in the kayak and canoe for the advanced men’s category. Abbas Talib also won a gold medal in the kayak for the youth category for men. The double kayak team for advanced men, consisting of Amir Firas and Wael Khaled, also added a medal.” Another gold medal, as for the silver, was won by Hussein Alaa in the men’s youth canoe category, while the duo, Abbas Talib and Ali Talib, were crowned with a medal.
