In the video of the incident, the attacker is seen storming the window of the driver’s seat, where Y was sitting, swinging the iron rod and smashing the windshield. The attacker waved his hand a second time and tried to hit the Jewish driver in the head with a strong swing. Miraculously, at exactly this critical second, a policeman arrived and pushed the attacker away at the very last moment.
Y. filed a complaint with the police, and his friend who was with him testified.
Attorney Bleicher from the ‘Honno’ organization emphasized in his letter: “This is an extremely violent incident. A dangerous terrorist who acts in an extreme and unbridled way, without a stop that would prevent him from adding to the violence, and poses a high danger to other citizens.”
The lawyer also added that “His actions, which began with an anti-Semitic attack, worsened with the risk of life in a traffic lane, and ended with an actual murder attempt when he tried to forcefully place an iron rod on the head of my client. There is a grave and vile addition to this act, when it was carried out in the midst of a large rabbi’s funeral with many participants, And against those who engaged in the elementary activity of distributing water.”
Attorney Bleicher asked the commander of the Jerusalem district to extend the suspect’s detention, and prosecute him for racially motivated assault, endangering human life on a transportation route and attempted murder.
