The oldest literary prize in France, the Grand Prix du roman de l’Académie française was awarded on Thursday October 26, 2023 to Dominique Barbéris for A way of loving (Gallimard).
Dominique Barbéris wins ahead of the two other finalists selected by the selection committee and submitted to the vote of the Immortals: Alchemies,by Sarah Chiche (Seuil), and Cross of ashes, by Antoine Sénanque (Grasset).

Check for €10,000
The winner leaves with a check for €10,000 and the satisfaction of being the first author to be crowned this season with one of the major literary prizes awarded each year.
The Femina will be awarded Monday November 6; the Goncourt will be announced on Tuesday November 7, just like the Renaudot; followed by the Medici on November 9.
