Given the projection of real estate developments that do not have permits and licenses to build and that also fail to comply with the environmental impact statements (MIA), activists from the port of Sisal asked the different environmental authorities to definitively close three projects.

Guillermo Acosta, activist and resident of this port, belonging to Hunucmá, mentioned that there are three real estate projects that do not comply with the regulations required by the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) One is even already on the market.

He indicated that the developments fail to leave 60 percent of the green area of the total land, since there are cases in which almost the entire property has been deforested, in addition to others that fail to comply with the non-construction of buildings of more than four apartments, coupled with the fact that some do not even have their corresponding MIA.

“We are here to defend a voice that cannot be defended alone, such as nature, the turtles that come to nest or the flamingos that fly above our houses.

“It is worrying that these buildings do not have adequate biodigesters to be able to receive so much black water,” said the community resident.

VILLAS MARÍAS, THE MOST CONCERNING

Of the three projects that they seek to stop, he pointed out that the most worrying is the Villas María, which is already under construction, without having permits, it even has two refusals from Semarnat for its development, because it intends to build two towers of buildings and four houses, in addition to having deforested almost the entire land.

He commented that the corresponding complaint had already been made to the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) and Semarnat, of which he thanked the openness to file the complaint quickly, which is why they are now seeking immediate action and that close these real estate projects that only cause serious damage to the biodiversity of the place.

Sisal is a Mexican port located on the north-west coast of the state of Yucatán, in the Gulf of Mexico.
