Adviser on Social Welfare and Women and Child Affairs Sharmeen S. Murshid said Durga Puja is not only a festival of the Hindu community, it has now become a universal festival. Destruction of evil forces and worship of truth and beauty are the main features of <a href="http://www.time.news/chief-advisors-call-to-build-a-dream-bangladesh/" title="Chief Advisor's call to build a dream Bangladesh“>Sharadiya Durgotsava.
He said these things in a message given on Friday (October 11) greeting all citizens of the country including Hindus on the occasion of Durga Puja.
Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony, the adviser said, noting that our constitution guarantees equal rights to people of all religions and castes. The interim government formed by the unprecedented uprising of students-workers-people on August 5 is working to improve the fate of everyone and establish equal rights regardless of caste-religion-caste-group.
The advisor urged everyone to unite to build a new Bangladesh of hunger-poverty-free and happy-prosperous dreams by keeping the bond of communal harmony intact.
He said that law and order forces are working to protect security during Durga Puja. Army personnel deployed in the district are always active to ensure the security of the pujamandap. 84,000 volunteers from the Ministry of Social Welfare and Women and Child Affairs along with law enforcement agencies will work as volunteers in 32,000 pujamandap till October 13. Every day all the officers and employees will perform duty in 3 shifts of 8 hours at the Pujamandap.
The adviser said that the interim government expected that the autumn Durga Puja would be celebrated in a festive atmosphere with great enthusiasm.
