Reiterating the secular and inclusive values, the Hindu community of the country celebrated its biggest festival Durga Puja across the country in a festive atmosphere.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this information in a press release on Monday (October 14).
According to the notification, more than 32,000 pujamandaps are set up across Bangladesh on the occasion of Durga Puja. Where Hindu women, men and children pay homage to the Goddess. The ten-day festival ended on Sunday evening with the dedication of idols in a cordial atmosphere across the country.
It said that the government congratulated all Hindus for celebrating Durga Puja in a festive atmosphere with full confidence in all the steps taken by the government ignoring any kind of incitement and propaganda.
The notification also said that in view of the several untoward incidents that have taken place across the country in the last week, the government has immediately taken strict measures. Law enforcement and civil administration have registered 11 cases so far. 17 people have already been arrested for their involvement in these incidents.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, communal harmony and peaceful coexistence is an eternal identity of Bangladesh state, which has united everyone. The Government of Bangladesh firmly believes that every person has the right to practice his religious rites without any hindrance, regardless of his religion or belief.
The Government of Bangladesh considers it a duty to ensure the safety of all citizens, especially members of religious minorities, in Bangladesh. The interim government is assuring the international community that the government is committed to upholding the secular and inclusive identity of the people of Bangladesh, the press release said.
