A young Jew from Britain was killed while on holiday in Albania. The young man from London is studying at Leeds University, and went on holiday after completing his third year. “We are all unbelievably heartbroken by the tragic news of Zohar’s death”
A Jewish student killed in an accident during a vacation in Albania. Zohar Dean Collins, 22, of Rutheath’s Sateck borough in London, a physics student at Leeds University, was on holiday with friends on the Albanian Riviera after completing his third year at the university. He is survived by his parents and three siblings. His family launched a fundraising campaign to fly his body from Albania to the UK, and help the family in its difficult time.
His family said: “We are all unbelievably heartbroken by the tragic news of Zohar’s death on Wednesday, June 1, we all remember Zohar as a witty man with a good and warm heart, he was truly special and touched the hearts of many over the years, he leaves behind a large family Which includes three brothers, parents, two grandparents, cousins, uncles and a community of close friends. “
Albanian media reported that Zohar tragically lost his life after falling from the third floor of the hotel. He came to Albania for a vacation, but did not know that this would be his last vacation. Albanian police say, “An English citizen fell from the third floor of a hotel, an investigation team is working to fully investigate the circumstances of the incident.”
The Leeds University Physics Association paid tribute to Zohar, “he is a dear friend, and a man of great esteem.” The post read: “Loss of glow leaves a huge hole in our lives and the committee would not be the same without it.”
The Jewish Students’ Association said: “Our thoughts are with Zohar’s family and friends and anyone affected by this tragic news. If Jewish students need support, please contact each of our staff.”
