jpnn.comJAKARTA – Deputy Chair of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly, Lestari Moerdijat, appealed to the public to carry out breast examinations early to prevent an increase in breast cancer cases in the country.
“It is important to spread the word that early detection of breast cancer is a step that must be taken to prevent breast cancer,” said Lestari Moerdijat when launching the Indonesia Goes Pink health walk with the theme Celebrating Life Above and Beyond which was attended by a number of communities of cancer survivors and sufferers as well as the community in the region. Jl Thamrin, Sunday (27/10).
The event was attended by, among others, Dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi, M.Epid (Director of Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases / P2PTM Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia), Aryanthi Baramuli Putri, SH., MH (General Chair of the Cancer Information and Support Center/CISC), Elmo Hillyawan (Lovepink Supervisory Board) and Dede Gracia (Lovepink Management Board).
According to Lestari, various events to raise public awareness regarding early detection of breast cancer must continue to be carried out.
According to Rerie, Lestari’s nickname, the event involving breast cancer survivors and sufferers also served as an opportunity to celebrate a second chance to be better.
Awareness about early detection of breast cancer, explained Rerie, who is also a breast cancer survivor, can begin to be disseminated to those closest to the family, friends and the wider community.
Moreover, said Rerie, the theme for Breast Cancer Awareness Month this time is “No One Should Face Breast Cancer Alone” or “No One Can Face Breast Cancer Alone.”
“Let’s move together to reduce the death rate from breast cancer,” said Rerie.
