The Board of Directors of Ecopetrol expressed its support for the president of the company, Ricardo Roa Barragán, after the Plenary Chamber of the National Electoral Council (CNE) decided to open an investigation and file charges against the presidential campaign of Gustavo Petro, in which Roa was manager, for the alleged violation of the electoral financing regime.
In a statement, the Board of Directors highlighted that Ricardo Roa will have the opportunity to exercise his right to defense in accordance with due process once notified. Likewise, they stressed that permanent monitoring of the situation has been carried out by the Audit and Risk Committee, evaluating the associated risks and relying on legal advice in both Colombia and the United States.

“The Board of Directors of Ecopetrol and its Audit and Risk Committee, in their fiduciary duty, have permanently monitored the information related to the President of Ecopetrol in his role as campaign manager, they have constantly evaluated the risks and their probability of occurrence and have had legal and regulatory advisors in both Colombia and the United States,” the statement states.
The Board, made up of nine members, including figures such as Guillermo García Realpe, Mónica de Greiff Lindo and Ángela María Robledo, reiterated its support for the administrative and technical management of Roa within the framework of the 2040 Strategy “Energy that Transforms”, highlighting its work in the energy transformation of the country.
Finally, Ecopetrol assured that it will continue to act diligently to make decisions in the best interest of the company and its shareholders, in the midst of this process that involves its current president.
