Former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe warned against “a form of disintegration of the nation”, for lack of a clear “strategy”, particularly in terms of education, on Sunday in an interview with TF1.

Now boss of the Horizons party, Edouard Philippe wonders: “what is the use of school, in a Republic like France, in the 21st century? » “This question is often raised and I do not believe that it is clearly addressed or that there is a completely obvious answer,” he laments.

Political return to Angers this Friday

“And in a nation like France, when there are no major projects, when there is no strategy, when we manage the problems (…) one by one (…), I believe that we lose something thing of national cohesion, that we are losing something of the strength of the movement which is ours and that therefore we have a form of disintegration of the nation”, he warns in an interview with show 7 to 8.

Edouard Philippe, who will publish a book on Wednesday entitled “Places that say” (ed. JC Lattès)will make his political comeback on Friday at the Horizons summer days in Angers then will debate on Sunday with Fabien Roussel at the Fête de l’Humanité.

Affected by two autoimmune diseases (vitiligo and alopecia) and now totally hairless, Edouard Philippe insisted that it had “no kind of gravity”. “It’s not contagious, it’s not painful, it’s like that”, he defused, specifying that this does not “prevent him from continuing to think, to speak, to laugh, to seduce maybe “.

“My health is excellent”

Denying that this testified to a low resistance to stress, Edouard Philippe insisted: “my health is excellent, and I invite anyone who doubts it to come boxing with me”.

Determined to “feed the public debate” and to “conquer power democratically” with Horizons, Edouard Philippe said “reconcile” a “very great determination” with a “very great patience” in view of the presidential election of 2027, while ironically on the “predictive value” of the polls which put him in a very good position.

Asked about his relationship with Emmanuel Macron, who recently called him a “friend”, Mr. Philippe said he was “happy that he said it and that he thought it”… without however using the same term.

“When you have a President of the Republic and a Prime Minister, their relations are not placed on the register of friendship,” he evacuated, evoking “cordial relations” and “trust”.
