Tamimi rose to fame in 2018 after videos and photographs emerged of her physically assaulting IDF soldiers in her village, Nabi Saleh. In March 2018, Tamimi was convicted on four charges, including assaulting an IDF officer and soldier, incitement, and interfering with IDF forces. She served a full prison term of eight months, including eight months of probation, before being released on July 29, 2018.
