From the La Concordia Port Captaincy, in La Paz, authorities from the Security Cabinet reported on the recent seizure of drugs intercepted by the Tridente Naval Task Force of the Armed Forces.
The operation was carried out on October 12 at 11:00 am, 1,704 km southwest of Bocana El Cordoncillo. Three people of Ecuadorian nationality and three of Mexican nationality were located in the operation.
1,551 kg of cocaine were located on the Ecuadorian vessel. An hour later, the Mexican vessel that would act as the recipient of the cargo was intercepted, Minister Merino Monroy explained.
He assured that El Salvador’s work in the fight against drug trafficking is arduous and professional, supported by a solid State policy to meet the objectives. “Thanks to these efforts, historical records have been broken in terms of seizure distances, reaffirming the commitment to this scourge,” he indicated.
He also reaffirmed El Salvador’s commitment to international security, an effort with which we have earned the recognition and respect of other nations: “At the international level, we are one of the largest contributors in the fight against drug trafficking,” he highlighted.
The Minister congratulated the members of the Tridente Naval Task Force for their commitment, work and determination in fulfilling the mission, recognizing their tireless efforts in the fight against drug trafficking and their contribution to national and international security.
