KamAZ expects to release the Kama-1 passenger electric car in 2024 or 2025, said Sergey Kogogin, general director of the plant. The developers position the experimental car as a smart crossover.
“We expect 2024-2025,” Mr. Kogogin said on RTVI, answering a question about the start of sales of the car. It should be noted that in September 2021, the head of the press service of the enterprise, Oleg Afanasiev, called 2024 as the preliminary date for the Kama-1 to enter the series.
The Kama-1 prototype was presented in December 2020. In January 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced the signing by KamAZ of an agreement with the Ministry of Innovation and Technology of Hungary on the joint development and production of electric vehicles.
