ANDlon Musk is ready to do anything to make Donald Trump win the next US presidential elections in November. Lo’s boss made the announcement on Saturday, October 19, during a speech in the state of Pennsylvania.
With this method the billionaire tries to attract potential voters of the Republican candidate. In fact, it is his organization that supports the Trump campaign, America PAC, which is at the origin of the petition and collects the contact details of hundreds of thousands of Americans, particularly in the “swing states”, these key states that presidential elections can swing the situation.
The billionaire said Saturday that he hopes to collect the signatures of one or two million voters. In Pennsylvania, the first winner received a check from the businessman on Saturday. Each participant also receives $100 just for signing and/or introducing a new signer.
Illegal payments?
The trial, in some ways unprecedented, did not fail to provoke reactions, in particular from the governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro. On NBC News on Sunday, he called the distribution of money “deeply disturbing,” calling on authorities to look into its legality. “When you start putting so much money into politics, I think it raises serious questions,” he explained.
He is not the only one to question the method used by Elon Musk. Several election law experts have highlighted the existence of legal provisions that prohibit payments to voters. Rick Hasen, a law professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, accused the transactions of being “clearly illegal.”
For his part, Elon Musk explains that he wants to “maximize the notoriety of [sa] petition in favor of the Constitution”, accusing the media of not spreading it. “So I wondered how to get people to know about it. Well, it won’t be long before this news reaches the media,” he wrote on X.
By distributing 919,600 euros per day until November 5, the head of Tesla – the sole financier of the American PAC – would therefore shell out almost 16 million euros. A sum that is added to the donation of 75 million dollars already paid by the America PAC to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
