El Bombillo has made 12 hires, so far, to go in search of the LigaPro title.

The Emelec board wants to erase the terrible year 2023 from everyone’s memory and take advantage of its absence from international tournaments to have a great LigaPro. That is why they have already announced 12 hires, with some notable names.

The most recent is Cristhian Noboa. The 28-year-old midfielder, a self-confessed blues fan, terminated his contract with Sochi, where he still had six months left, to join the club he loves and where he made his debut. The Ecuadorian arrives this Wednesday night in Guayaquil to join the electric preseason.

In addition to reinforcements, The Millonarios managed to renew the contract of Pedro Ortíz and Luis Fernando León, two strongholds of the team in 2023. They also have the return of Roberto Garcés, who had a good season in Libertad de Loja.

But, what are all Emelec’s signings? How was your arrival to the team? Diario Olé Ecuador reviews them one by one so you can remember and evaluate how good they are.

Emelec’s hiring for the 2024 season

In the Millionaire team everything began on December 18, 2023, when they made their first reinforcement official for 2024: the Colombian Andrés Ricaurte. The 32-year-old midfielder arrived as a free player from Deportivo Independiente de Medellín in Colombia, signing for one season.

From there came a national hire, winger Maicon Solís. The 29-year-old player also arrived free at Bombillo from El Nacional. With the Puros Criollos he played 32 games in which he added eight goals and five assists. He signed for one year.

The third blue signing was a surprise, since it had not been rumored, nor had anyone put his name on the table. This is Marcelo Meli, the Argentine arrived as a free player after being champion with Liverpool from Uruguay. The former Boca Juniors, Sporting Lisbon, Racing de Avellaneda, among others, signed for three seasons with Bombillo.

Next up was winger Washington Corozo. The winger had already been close to the Eléctricos last year, but it was not possible. This season he arrived from Sporting Cristal after the Millonarios bought 70% of his transfer and signed him a 3-year contract. Manchitas, in 2023, played 39 games with the Peruvians in which he scored seven goals and gave two assists.

From there another extreme followed, but a Uruguayan one: Rodrigo Rivero. The 28-year-old winger also arrived from Liverpool in Uruguay, where he was champion along with Meli. He is in the blues on loan for one year with an option to buy. In 2023 he played 31 games, scored one goal and gave two assists.

After strengthening the mid attack and the wings, it was the forward’s turn. Facundo Castelli joined Emelec for one year on loan with an option to purchase. Last year he played in Delfín, where he scored four goals, but his pass belongs to Estudiantes de Caseros of Argentina and he won it from Mushuc Runa, a club that also wanted him.
