“All passengers flying to, from or through Dubai are prohibited from carrying pagers or walkie-talkies in checked or carry-on baggage,” the airline said in a statement on its website.
If such items are found, they will be confiscated by the Dubai Police.
It has already been reported that in September, many pagers and walkie-talkies belonging to members of the Shiite militant group Hezbollah exploded in Lebanon. These blasts killed at least 39 people and injured around 3,000, including some seriously. Most of the victims were members of Hezbollah, but there were also some casualties among civilians.
The fighters used pagers and walkie-talkies, avoiding the use of mobile phones for internal communications that could be intercepted by Israel.
It has been reported that Israel has been preparing for at least 15 years an operation to blow up the pages of members of “Hezbollah”. It is said to have been implemented by the Israeli intelligence service “Mossad”.
