The President of the Republic is expected to participate around January 17 in the World Economic Forum which brings together heads of state and big bosses each year in the Swiss Alps.

Emmanuel Macron plans to go this year to the World Economic Forum (WEF, in English) in Davos, Switzerland, which takes place from Monday January 15 to Friday January 19. The Élysée press service issued a circular inviting the media to be accredited without yet confirming the trip.

For its part, Business France, the organization which supports French export companies, has launched invitations for a “French evening” on Wednesday January 17 “on the occasion of the visit of President Emmanuel Macron”. On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, large companies, regions, various foundations and States are multiplying their receptions.

Heads of state and investors

The President of the Republic has not visited Davos since 2018, a meeting often decried in France as the coven of the world’s rich and powerful, locked in a bubble. For the Head of State, a visit to the “WEF” can allow him to meet a number of foreign counterparts as well as important investors. In 2021, Emmanuel Macron participated in the Forum, by videoconference, the meeting in Switzerland being canceled due to Covid.

The list of heads of state and government participating in the 2024 edition will be made public on January 9, but like every year, hundreds of big bosses, particularly from the tech sector, are expected in the Graubünden resort.
