The minister noted that the global community needs to invest in adaptation as wisely as in mitigation. This means investing in new forms of energy and existing decarbonization technologies.

“This in turn means strengthening early warning and health systems, as well as strengthening ownership, transparency and accountability in all our efforts. Fundamentally, this means building new resilience to climate change while creating new pathways for low-carbon growth,” he said. .

He said the upcoming indices are not only critical to keeping the 1.5 level within reach, but also provide significant opportunities for socio-economic development, in line with scientific evidence. And by expanding and strengthening international cooperation, equity in climate progress can be achieved.
