In the photo, Umut Meler is seen lying in bed with a neck brace, after the president of the local team, Ankaragucu, gave him a virulent punch that knocked him down at first. Then, already on the ground, he was kicked. Hospital reports detail how the bleeding in his left eye has begun to subside and the cheek fracture he suffered will “gradually heal.” It is also claimed that there is no permanent damage after some facial and neurological tests.

Police say Meler said “it was my fault” when he was taken to the hospital. It is not known whether due to the extension of the match or the expulsion of two players. The match featured eight minutes of stoppage time and a red card for each team.
