Star attacker Erling Haaland has two reasons to be happy: the 24-year-old has become Norway‘s record goalscorer and is apparently becoming a father. The exceptional striker scored a brace in his 36th international match in Norway’s 3-0 (1-0) win in the Nations League against Slovenia and, with 34 goals, moved past the previous record holder Jörgen Juve (33).
He also shared a picture on Instagram in which he had the game ball tucked under his jersey and was sucking his thumb. Football professionals use the gesture to announce to the public that they will soon become fathers. The finger is understood as a pacifier in the mouth. He commented on the picture with a baby emoji and the word “soon” (German: “bald”). Another clear indication that Haaland will soon be able to call himself a father.
