“Every tree has its own secret”

by time news

The presentation of the book “Trees have found a home” was held at the Justin Marcinkevičius Public Library in Prienai. Petras Pranckevičius, a folk artist, carpenter, furniture maker, cross stitcher, author of the book “The trees have found a home”, participated.
The folk artist, who has been friends with a tree since childhood, said that he always paid attention to trees. Even when in the forest, old oaks or completely bare pines caught the eye. According to the author, “there is no such thing as a bad tree, you just need to be able to talk to it.” Each tree has its own characteristics and secrets. Be that as it may, the tree must be treated fairly. You can’t fool a tree.”
Most of Petros Pranckevičius’ sculptures and crosses stand in public spaces. He has made more than half a dozen unique pieces of furniture that only their owners can see, so he wanted to show his “hidden” works to everyone. This is how the book came about. “When I look at the passport, where the numbers are written, and I know that they will not be there forever, I think – I will leave such a memory,” says the author of the book. During the meeting, Petras Pranckevičius was happy with his students, to whom he passed on his experience, and today their works decorate various places in the city of Alytus.
