Chennai: Chief Minister M.K.Stalin awarded certificates of appreciation to the policemen for their excellent investigation and security measures in the Coimbatore incident.

In a statement released by the Government of Tamil Nadu in this regard, “After the incident of car cylinder explosion in the area of ​​Ukkadam Police Station in Coimbatore last morning on 23.10.2022, the police who acted quickly and did not destroy any traces in the area engaged in surveillance activities.

Jamesha Mubinal could not drive the car further on the same road when he saw the police patrolling the area in the early hours of the morning when the incident took place. Following this, the car cylinder exploded on the spot and he also died. Due to the intensive investigation that followed and due to the vigilance of the police, a major accident was avoided in Coimbatore.

Attempts by a few individuals to create tension were thwarted due to excellent police action and the situation was effectively handled so that there was no disruption to business establishments and public in Coimbatore on the occasion of Diwali.

Within 12 hours of the incident, investigation by special forces was accelerated and 148 clues were collected, explosives were seized and five persons were arrested on 24.10.2022 in connection with the incident. A sixth person was also arrested the next day. Further, action under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) was also carried out the very next day (25.10.2022).

The work of the Tamil Nadu Police who are working day and night selflessly without rest is admirable. Appreciating the work of the police who have served with dedication and maintaining social peace, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presented certificates of appreciation to 14 policemen in token of awarding certificates of appreciation to 58 police officers and constables, including Coimbatore Municipal Police Commissioner Balakrishnan,” the statement said.
