Explosion in a Chilean school leaves more than 30 injured

At least 35 students injured by burns were registered this Wednesday at a renowned boarding school located in the capital of Chile.

The Barros Arana National Boarding School (INBA), located in Santiago de Chile, registered a strong explosion that left at least 35 students with medium and severe burns; At least 4 critically injured people and one presumed dead are reported.

According to the Chilean authorities, the explosion was caused by several Molotov cocktails made by students from the same school; The students were planning a demonstration against the Carabineros of Chile.

The high school students were in the institute’s bathrooms when the explosion occurred, causing a fire that quickly spread to other rooms. So far, 35 people have been injured due to burns and 4 students are in critical condition.

Regarding the issue, the Minister of Education of Chile, Nicolás Cataldo, visited the San Juan de Dios Hospital where several of the injured students are, sending a message regretting the situation that occurred and condemning the acts of violence that occurred at the INBA.

The videos of the events that occurred have circulated through social networks and the Chilean health authorities, together with the police, encourage the parents of those affected.
