Express Entry into Canada | Indian Express Tamil

Express Entry’ (EE) is a unique and fast path to permanent residency for immigrants seeking a new life in Canada. Express Entry plays an important role in managing the influx of immigrants to the North American country.
Last week, Canada announced a new policy to allow workers from 16 new industries to come to the country to tackle its labor shortage.
All these occupations are included in the ‘Express Entry’ list for Canada. There workers belonging to this category will gain.

That means they will get permanent residency.
Let’s look at what the ‘Express Entry’ process is and how workers in these new industries can use it to come to Canada.

Since 2015 the ‘Express Entry’ system has always been in place in Canada. But it almost stopped during the Covid pandemic. Now, Canada has expanded its reach by adding 16 new industries.

Earlier, these occupations were not included in Express Entry, which is handled by the Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trade, Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and other programs, says Gurpreet Singh, who has been running a Canadian immigration consultancy for over a decade.

Under the ‘Express Entry’ system the candidate has to apply online in their respective department. Also, information about him should be declared.

Then the Canadian authorities will select the applicants through lottery and send an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to the selected applicants in the online account.

He or she must then apply for permanent residency by filing a detailed and complete application.
This includes other required documents like English Proficiency Test Admission Proof, Work Experience Certificate, Police Report, Blood Relations (if any) and Educational Evidence.

There is a point system for everything, including educational qualifications, age, work experience, English proficiency test,” says an expert.

But the Canadian government has also given ‘Express Entry’ to skilled workers like truck/bus drivers, construction workers and repairmen, according to the new list.

A moderate level of English comprehension is essential for this skilled worker. Because Canada wants workers who can communicate and understand their mother tongue.

Also, work experience is crucial, experts say, and some provinces even invite skilled workers on visitor visas to verify their work experience. Also, the 20-32 age group scores relatively higher.

Points are calculated based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), with a total of 1,200 points, including 600 points for PNP, as several Canadian territories participate in ‘Express Entry’ under the Federal Express Entry System.
Many applicants apply under PNP entry because entry is very fast in some provinces.

After calculating the points, the applications are processed, which takes at least six months and applicants receive an invitation letter from the Canadian government.
Experts say that while some applicants get there within six months of submitting their application, some have to wait up to 3-4 years to get the opportunity.

The new list also includes jobs such as nursing assistants, long-term care assistants, hospital assistants, pest controllers, smokers, repairmen, heavy equipment operators, bus drivers, subway operators, pharmacy assistants, elementary and secondary school teaching assistants, and transport truckers. It is in favor of workers.
