A Russian man who became famous for his resemblance to Leonardo DiCaprio enlisted in the military and took part in the war against Ukraine.

It is said that as this man gained weight, he had less and less work to do, and eventually responded to the nation’s call to make a living.

On the 22nd, Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported on the current status of Roman Brtsev (41), who lived in Moscow.

Burchev was originally a programmer, but one day he became famous online due to his coincidental resemblance to Hollywood star DiCaprio.

In 2016, Burtsev, then 33, unexpectedly gained attention when he posted a photo of himself on a dating site in hopes of finding love.

Advertising agencies offered to use him as a model, and the nickname “Fat DiCaprio” arose online. His photos were also published in European and American tabloids.

Burtsev took this as an opportunity to quit his job and become a model and actor. He also filmed commercials and participated in various commercial activities.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic that spread around the world in 2020, contacts looking for him began to decline sharply.

Moreover, as he was unemployed and gained weight due to overeating, he lost his resemblance to DiCaprio.

After suffering from financial difficulties and having no hope of receiving public attention anymore, he joined the military at the request of the government.

The Russian military provides a one-time payment of $20,000 during service, $2,000 per month, and up to $130,000 in compensation upon death, the media reported.
