Ohio Woman Dies in UTV Crash in Allen County
A 28-year-old Spencerville woman was fatally injured in a single-vehicle UTV crash in rural Allen County, Ohio, on Sunday, October 5, 2025. The incident underscores the critical importance of safety precautions while operating off-road vehicles.
Crash Details and Investigation
The Ohio State Highway Patrol‘s lima Post is currently investigating the incident,which occurred at approximately 10:57 a.m. on Defiance Trail near Bloomlock Road in Marion Township. According to authorities, Rachel A. Berelsman was operating a 2021 Polaris Ranger traveling northwest when the vehicle veered left of the centerline. The UTV subsequently left the roadway and collided with a utility pole.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find berelsman had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. Her remains where transported by H&H Funeral Services to the Lucas County CoronerS Office for further examination.
The crash occurred because Berelsman’s UTV veered left of the centerline on Defiance Trail,ultimately colliding with a utility pole. Investigators have determined that she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, a factor being heavily considered in the ongoing investigation. The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is leading the investigation, seeking to understand all contributing factors to the incident.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Delphos Fire and EMS, Able Towing, H&H Funeral Services, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office. Rachel A.Berelsman, 28, of Spencerville, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene.
