(Web Desk) Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to buy more than 1000 vehicles worth 6 billion rupees.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government claims to take austerity and saving measures to get the country out of the economic crisis, but on the other hand, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), whose main responsibility is to collect taxes, is to reduce the treasury deficit. It is ready to spend a whopping Rs 6 billion to enhance the “operational capacity” of the tax agency.

In a letter to Honda Atlas in response to their quotation, FBR expressed its intention to purchase one thousand ten (1010) new Honda City 1.2 LCVTs with additional features. He also informed that he will buy these new vehicles in 2 phases, in the first phase, an immediate payment of 3 billion rupees will be made to buy 500 vehicles, while the remaining payment will be made after the delivery of the first batch.

Complete delivery of 1010 vehicles is expected to be completed between January and May 2025. FBR wants 75 vehicles to be supplied in January, 200 in February, and 225 in March.

In the second phase, the vendor has been requested to supply 250 vehicles in April, and the remaining 260 vehicles will be supplied in May, according to an FBR spokesperson, adding that the purchase is part of their plan to enhance operational efficiency. “These new vehicles are for field officers and will help them perform their work more efficiently,” he explained.

The new vehicles will include a number of outstanding features such as navigation system, reverse camera, and high-quality interiors. These will also include free periodic maintenance up to 20,000 km or 12 months, the purchase price will also include a four-year extended warranty, covering up to 100,000 km or 4 years provided regular maintenance is done at authorized dealerships.

In addition, FBR has requested Honda Atlas to display the FBR logo on the front doors and windscreens of the vehicles for official identification. Price will include all freight and delivery charges. A tracking system will also be installed in the vehicles, and FBR will also pay a service charge of Rs 8,500 for the first year.
