Final whistle after a wild ride! FC St.Gallen and FK TSC draw 2-2 in the Kybunpark – despite winning a point, St.Gallen would be eliminated for now
FC St.Gallen shows a great performance against FK TSC from Serbia. After an offensive game, the St.Gallen team got at least one point. The game ends 2:2. Follow our reporting from Kybunpark.

The guests from Serbia were a little surprised before the game. FK TSC had dispatched Lugano 4-1 in the last match of the Conference Series. But before that, Backa Topola had not scored a single goal in the Conference League. After 90 minutes we know: The Serbians can play football. Double scorer Milos Pantovic in particular is in great form at the moment. Pantovic has already scored twice against Lugano – and also in the Serbian league.
For this 4:1 performance against Lugano, St.Gallen should be satisfied with the point and the 2:2. Only: The draw doesn’t really help FC St.Gallen. FC are currently stuck in 25th place, just below the playoff places. And now, probably the two strongest opponents, Vitoria Guimaraes and FC Heidenheim, are waiting for the last two Conference League games. So it will be a difficult task for St.Gallen to make their way into the playoffs.
And also looking at the statistics (24 to 16 shots in favor of St.Gallen) and FC St.Gallen’s chances - the shot from Witzig, the shot just over the post, also from Witzig, and another shot just over the crossbar Konietzke, all within a few minutes of the visitors’ 2-1 lead – it would be more important for the home team in Kybunpark. A third goal, a win, and FC St.Gallen found themselves somewhere between 13th and 18th with six points.
But unfortunately there was no third goal. With FC St.Gallen currently in 25th place with four points, that would mean the end of the Conference Series adventure. But, so often this season, there is no time to mope. Sunday’s game is away to the Young Boys, who are winless in four league games – not including the 6-1 Champions League win against Bergamo.
There is also a lot at stake in Sunday’s game, which is about keeping up with the top half of the Super League table.
What are the key factors affecting FC St.Gallen’s chances of making the playoffs in the Conference League?
Time.news Editor: Welcome to the Time.news interview series. Today, we have a special guest, Dr. Alex Müller, a sports analyst and expert in European football dynamics. We’re diving into the recent exciting match between FC St.Gallen and FK TSC, which ended in a 2-2 draw. Alex, thanks for joining us!
Dr. Alex Müller: Thank you for having me! It’s always a pleasure to discuss football, especially after such a thrilling match.
Editor: It was indeed a thrilling match! St.Gallen’s performance was commendable, but it seems they still face challenges in the Conference League standings. What are your thoughts on their overall performance during the game?
Dr. Müller: St.Gallen showed incredible spirit and determination. Despite being under pressure, they managed to equalize twice, showcasing their offensive capabilities. The fact that they came back from behind speaks volumes about their resilience. However, while they earned a point, the draw doesn’t significantly improve their situation in the standings.
Editor: Right, they are currently sitting in 25th place, which leads to the question of their playoff aspirations. With tough matches against teams like Vitoria Guimaraes and FC Heidenheim looming, how do you assess their chances of moving up in the standings?
Dr. Müller: It’s going to be a steep hill for them. Both Vitoria Guimaraes and FC Heidenheim are strong contenders, and St.Gallen will have to improve their defense to stand a chance. Their current position means they need more than just good performances; they require results, and that can add pressure on the players and coaching staff.
Editor: Speaking of pressure, Milos Pantovic from FK TSC was exceptional during the match, scoring twice and showing great form. What impact do such standout players have on a team’s overall performance?
Dr. Müller: Standout players like Pantovic can really shift the dynamics of a game. They not only contribute with goals but also uplift their teammates’ morale and confidence. A player in form can change the outcome of matches and can be pivotal for the team’s strategy. His contributions against St.Gallen demonstrated how individual brilliance can shine through even when the team faces adversity.
Editor: Absolutely, individual performances can often become the difference-maker. As we look ahead, do you think St.Gallen’s coaching staff might explore changes in tactics or player selection to improve their playoff chances?
Dr. Müller: It’s highly probable. The coaching staff will likely analyze their previous games closely, focusing on both successes and failures. They might consider adjusting their tactics, perhaps optimizing their defensive setups or looking to enhance their midfield control. Additionally, exploring potential gaps in their roster or injuries could lead to strategic changes in player selection.
Editor: As a final thought, what advice would you give to St.Gallen fans hoping to see their team make a strong push for the playoffs?
Dr. Müller: Patience and support. Football is a journey with ups and downs. The fans play a crucial role, and their support can be a significant boost for the players. Continued encouragement can help create an atmosphere that propels the team forward, especially in challenging upcoming matches. And let’s not forget the essence of football—it’s about enjoying the game, and supporting the club through thick and thin.
Editor: Wise words indeed! Thank you, Dr. Müller, for sharing your insights with us today. It’ll be interesting to see how FC St.Gallen navigates the remainder of their Conference League journey.
Dr. Müller: Thank you for having me! I’m excited to see how it unfolds.
