Federation of Trade Unions: companies suspending work in the Russian Federation must pay employees downtime

by time news

Foreign companies that suspend work in Russia should pay their employees this time as simple, said Alexander Shershukov, deputy chairman of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions (FNPR). Foreign enterprises began to leave the Russian Federation against the backdrop of Western sanctions imposed due to the Russian military operation in Ukraine.

Mr. Shershukov noted that the closure of the company, albeit temporary, is called downtime due to the fault of the employer. “And therefore, all payments must be in accordance with the labor code,” emphasized the deputy chairman of the FNPR (quote from RIA Novosti).

Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Heineken announced their withdrawal from the Russian market. Since March 4, all IKEA stores have been temporarily closed. McDonald’s will also close all of its restaurants in Russia, but has promised to continue paying salaries to the chain’s 62,000 employees.
