Initiated by the Specialized Institute of Applied Manufacturing Technologies of Fez, the fashion show was an opportunity to present to the public five different collections produced by trainee stylists and pattern makers supervised by trainers from the various participating institutes.
These are the collections “the warrior woman”, framed by Chadia Labiad of the ISTA Confection Fez, “Nature in anger” (Lamyae Hamyani Mouhim and Bouchra El Mekkaoui) by Sefrou, “Eclats de l’histoire” by Sanae Berrada of the ISTA Bab Ftouh in Fez, “Darknes Star” framed by Abir Aferiat of the ISTA Fes and “Tradition Innovated” by Chadia Labiad of the ISTA confection Fes.
In a statement to MAP, the director of the Specialized Institute of Applied Manufacturing Technologies of Fez Mahmoud Bouchti indicated that the organization of this event is part of the para-training activities, adding that this parade has become an annual tradition for this institute.
The event aims to arouse young people’s interest in Textile-Clothing training, open up to the socio-professional environment of the establishment and highlight the talent and skills of trainees and winners, he explained.
For his part, the regional director of the Office of Professional Training and Labor Promotion (OFPPT) in Fez-Meknes, Abdelhakim Hadafi underlined the importance of this event in the sense that it allows laureates and trainees of the Textiles and Clothing sectors to rub shoulders with professionals in the sector at the regional level as part of their opening to the job market.
It is, he said, an annual meeting for apprentices to showcase their know-how and the knowledge accumulated during their journey within training establishments, noting that the show records the participation of a large number of textile and clothing professionals from Fez, where the sector occupies an important place in the local economy.
This event was punctuated by music and choreography performances and an artistic exhibition of paintings created by the Institute’s trainees as part of para-training activities.
This event brought together professionals from the textile and clothing sector in the city of Fez, actors from civil society and stylist and model trainee trainees from the various establishments which house the sectors of the Textile Clothing sector in the Fez-Meknes Region.
According to the organizers, the show constitutes an exhibition spectacle of the creations selected from among the best fashion articles from the ”Fashion Project”, created by the trainees of the 2nd year of the Technician in Industrial Modeling and Styling sectors of the ISTA Confection Fez establishments, ISTA Bab Ftouh and ISTA Sefrou.
At the end of the parade, certificates and symbolic trophies were given to the participants.
Interview between Time.news Editor and Mahmoud Bouchti, Director of the Specialized Institute of Applied Manufacturing Technologies of Fez
Time.news Editor: Good day, Mr. Bouchti. Thank you for joining us today! The recent fashion show organized by your institute sounds like a remarkable event. Can you tell us what inspired the creation of this annual fashion show?
Mahmoud Bouchti: Thank you for having me! The annual fashion show is a culmination of our parallel training initiatives aimed at showcasing the creativity and skills of our trainees. We wanted to provide a platform for young aspiring stylists and pattern makers to express their talents and connect with the wider textile industry. It’s also an opportunity to attract young people to our courses in Textile-Clothing training.
Time.news Editor: It sounds like a fantastic initiative! I see that this year’s collections were quite diverse, covering themes like “The Warrior Woman” and “Nature in Anger”. How do these themes reflect the training and experiences of the students involved?
Mahmoud Bouchti: Each collection presents a unique perspective that the trainees have explored during their studies. For instance, “The Warrior Woman,” created by Chadia Labiad, symbolizes strength and empowerment, while “Nature in Anger” by Lamyae Hamyani Mouhim and Bouchra El Mekkaoui reflects environmental themes and emotional responses to nature. These themes are not only artistic expressions but also align with the current conversations about empowerment and environmental consciousness in fashion.
Time.news Editor: That is truly remarkable. In terms of the artistic direction, how do you see traditional techniques being integrated with modern designs in these collections?
Mahmoud Bouchti: A significant aspect of our training is to bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary fashion. “Tradition Innovated,” another collection by Chadia Labiad, seamlessly blends traditional Moroccan craftsmanship with modern silhouettes. This integration pays homage to our rich cultural heritage while appealing to today’s fashion-forward consumers. By doing so, we are not only preserving our crafts but also ensuring their relevance in the global market.
Time.news Editor: It sounds like the event also plays a role in connecting students with industry opportunities. Can you elaborate on how it opens up avenues for collaboration and professional growth?
Mahmoud Bouchti: Absolutely! Beyond showcasing their collections, the fashion show attracts industry professionals, potential employers, and fashion enthusiasts. This exposure allows our trainees to network, gain insights into the fashion industry, and even secure internships or job offers post-event. It’s about fostering connections and creating pathways for their futures in fashion.
Time.news Editor: That’s quite impactful! how does this fashion show fall into the broader goals of the Specialized Institute of Applied Manufacturing Technologies in fostering talent and skills in the region?
Mahmoud Bouchti: Our overarching goal is to cultivate a skilled workforce that can meet the demands of the textile and clothing sectors. This event not only celebrates our students’ creativity but also aims to promote the importance of technical education in enhancing employability. By continually engaging with local industry and the community, we are helping bridge the gap between education and professional success.
Time.news Editor: Thank you, Mr. Bouchti, for sharing such valuable insights! It’s evident that the fashion show serves as a beacon of creativity, education, and professional development in Fez’s fashion landscape.
Mahmoud Bouchti: Thank you for the opportunity to discuss our work. We’re excited about the future of our students and the impact they will have in the industry!
