FIDAK 2025: CICES Digital Transformation in Africa

Dakar International Fair Embraces Digitalization for Seamless 33rd Edition

Senegal’s premier trade event, the Dakar International Fair (FIDAK), is streamlining access and exhibitor procedures through a new suite of digital tools, launching Monday. The Senegal International Foreign Trade Center (CICES), the event’s organizer, is rolling out these innovations to address past logistical challenges and enhance the overall experience for attendees and participants.

Addressing Past Challenges with Technology

Previously, attendees and exhibitors faced significant hurdles, particularly traffic congestion on the Northern Release Route (VDN) leading to the fairgrounds. A senior official stated, “We have placed a lot of emphasis on digitalization with an application called ‘CICES Ticketing’, because during the last FIDAKs, the Senegalese complained about the traffic jams that there were on the VDN.” This prompted CICES to prioritize digital solutions for the 33rd edition.

The newly launched CICES Ticketing application allows visitors to purchase tickets remotely, eliminating the need to wait in long lines. Furthermore, CICES has developed SUNU FIDAK, an interactive platform enabling exhibitors to register and automatically generate a badge using a QR code. This represents a significant departure from the previous, paperwork-intensive process.

Streamlining Exhibitor Registration

According to CICES, participation in FIDAK historically required exhibitors to physically visit the center to complete forms and manage extensive documentation. “This entire journey has been reduced and the process facilitated ‘to save more time’,” a company release confirmed, highlighting the commitment to efficiency. The digitalization initiative aims to reduce administrative burdens and allow exhibitors to focus on showcasing their products and services.

Expanding Reach Through Communication and Forums

Beyond the core exhibition, FIDAK will feature a scientific forum hosting prominent figures to discuss key themes. A spokesperson emphasized the importance of broader engagement, stating, “We have placed emphasis on communication to reach as many people as possible.” This increased focus on outreach is intended to maximize the event’s impact and attract a wider audience.

Looking Ahead to 2025

The 2025 edition of FIDAK, scheduled for December 7-31, will center around the theme of “Territorial Transformation and Inclusive Development.” This forward-looking theme underscores the fair’s commitment to fostering economic growth and sustainable development within Senegal and beyond.

The implementation of these digital tools marks a pivotal moment for FIDAK, signaling a commitment to modernization and a more accessible, efficient experience for all stakeholders.
