The French Fiona Ferro managed to get out of qualifying and will therefore play the main draw of Roland-Garros, after overcoming, on Friday, the Australian Jaimee Fourlis 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
Former world No.39, Ferro, 26, has fallen to 462nd in the WTA and has not passed a round at a Grand Slam tournament since 2021.
She will have a new chance thanks to her victory after a 2h22 fight against the 23-year-old Australian, world N.150. Ferro had obtained a first match point on his opponent’s service, at 5-3 in the third set, at the cost of a long exchange, but had cracked in stride.
She finally converted her second chance, this time serving.
